We're recruiting at least two new staff members for the kitchen at Mooba in Subiaco.
Full time Head Cook
You'll work Monday - Friday from early morning till mid afternoon. You'll need to be available some weekends and evenings to cover shifts and work at occasional events
You'll be entirely responsible for the kitchen at the Subiaco store, which includes short order breakfast cooking, writing all menus, sourcing, costing & ordering ingredients. You will report directly into Mooba's co-owners, and will work with them to manage the part time cook(s)
You must have at least one year of cooking experience
Part time Cook
You'll work at the weekend, either one of both days, depending on your availability. It would be an added bonus if you're available occasionally during the week to help out, but not a necessity
While you're working, you will be responsible for the smooth running of the kitchen, from cooking all short order breakfasts, to making sure we have enough stock for the next day
You will report into the Head Cook, and will work with them to develop new seasonal menu items, and any other support necessary
You must have at least six months of cooking experience
Applicants for both jobs must:
Have a genuine love of food, and be keen to develop your particular passion. Being a small cafe we are very flexible, so there is plenty of room for you to experiment
Have a good knowledge of local and seasonal food
Be able to work as part of a diverse group of young people
Applicants for both jobs will be asked to perform specific tasks during a trial, including:
Poach two eggs on toast
Bake a batch of banana bread, following our recipe
Make a batch of short crust pastry
Bake a cake (or similar) of your choosing
